“Heavy Smiles”? The strongest smiles carry the heaviest burdens. It's a far greater accomplishment to smile in the face of despair. It's easy to be negative when problems arise (hence the bottom mask giving into the upward pull of the string to make a frown). What's truly admirable is putting in the effort to stay positive (hence the top mask pulling up the strings against the weight of gravity to make a smile). It's not my intention to say you must smile when you're sad. No, I'm letting you know, I appreciate your will to defy the odds, knowing all too well the incredible burden that pulls down at the corners of your mouth like an invisible, perpetual weight. Every day is a fight. But, I want you to know, you're incredible... so so incredible. Choose to value life despite inevitable death. My retake of the classical drama masks tattoo.
